London has the highest concentration of padel courts in the UK. Finding Padel Courts in Manchester

Manchester has seen significant padel investment since 2023. Several purpose-built clubs now operate in and around the city centre and the northern suburbs. Outdoor courts are spread across leisure centres managed by Manchester City Council and neighbouring authorities including Salford and Trafford.

The total cost is per court divided among the four players, which brings the per-person figure down to a reasonable level for a regular session. 

What to Expect at your First Padel Session

Padel is straight forward to pick up and most clubs cater well for complete beginners. A few practical things to know before you arrive: 

Kit and Equipment 

• • Racket hire: most indoor clubs offer racket hire at no cost or a small charge. If you are trying padel for the first time, there is no need to buy a racket in advance. 

• • Balls: clubs that are staffed will provide balls as part of the court hire. At unstaffed outdoor venues you may need to bring your own. A sleeve of three padel balls costs around £5 to £8 and lasts several sessions.

The Format 

Padel is mostly played as doubles: four players on a court roughly a third the size of a tennis court, enclosed by glass walls and mesh fencing. The scoring is identical to tennis. Serves are underarm. The walls are in play. Most first-timers are rallying within 20 to 30 minutes. 

A standard hire session runs 90 minutes, which is comfortable for four players who are new to the game. You will not need to be fit to enjoy it; the court size and doubles format mean the game is as physically demanding as you make it.
